The EU Whistleblower Directive. Are you ready?
The EU Whistleblower Directive will impact every employer with more than 50 employees in Europe
Every employer with more than 50 employees in the European Union will soon need to comply with the European Union’s Directive for the protection of persons reporting on breaches of Union law, otherwise known as the EU Whistleblower Protection Directive.
The Directive grants greater protection for those who seek to expose corporate wrongdoing and will impact larger organizations from 2021 and smaller companies from 2023.
Whistleblowers will receive greater protection if they use external channels to raise concerns, encouraging them to bypass ineffective internal mechanisms.
This is problematic when incumbent tools, such as internal hotlines, are used by only 7% of reporters.
Furthermore, over 80% of employees do not know where to report ethics breaches or corruption, increasing the risk of them seeking an external platform.
This report looks at the impact of forthcoming legislation and how to reach compliance.
